Product Description
Malirri is the name for the Galpu Larrakitj.
Wiiitj is depicted here at Garrimala. He is the all powerful rainbow serpent (olive python)
that travelled through the Galpu clan lands during the early times called Wanjarr.
The painting on this Larrakitj depicts events relating to Wititj which is the monsoon and
the associated storm that occurred in the ancestral past.
The sacred clan design for Galpu country has been used in the background painting. This
line work refers to the power of the storm created by Wititj with the diagonal lines
representing trees that have been knocked down as Wititj moves from place to place.
The sun shining against the scales of the snake form a prism of light like a rainbow. The
power of the lightning is made manifest when they strike their tongue and the sound of
thunder is made as they move along the ground.
