Product Description
Boab nuts provided a nutritious source of food for the Kimberleys tribes and the range
of the Boab (Adansonia Gregori) tree extends from the Northern Kimberleys through to
the Northern Territory.
The scraping and engraving of Boab seed cases creates interesting effects and it has
become an art form unique to the Kimberleys. Whilst it was considered a tourist craft
for many years featuring the obligatory kangaroos and emus a considerable skill was
required in their production and they have become collectible featuring in Australian
public museum collections.
Particularly desirable are those featuring Wandjina Spirit figures and showing
ceremony.
