Product Description
This dance wand was used in dance ceremonies and the iconography typifies that used
in the Central and Western desert areas. The design has been applied using fabricated
pieces of red hot fencing wire.
Burnt design work has been used by Aboriginal Peoples since the 19th century and
whilst the method is transitional the designs remain largely traditional, particularly in
the older pieces.
The design worked is also termed as poker work or pyrography and is an accepted art
form having now having found its way into Australian public gallery and museum
collections
