symbolic womb. They are the guardians of the people who are featured on the side
panels.
Awareness and knowledge also came about at during this creation period and the
primordial mist back grounding the three panels suggests the very beginnings of mans’
creation.
You will note the body paint markings in the counter balancing form which is attached to
the womb and this symbolizes law and ceremony which are integral to traditional
Aboriginal life.
The branches and leaves of the medicine plant again shown branching out from the
womb indicate its importance to the G uGu Yalanji.
This work featured in Jowalyuppa(Two Brothers )exhibition at the Ballarat Fine Art
Gallery in 2004.
