Product Description
Marnpi is a site made sacred by the Tingari (Law) men who camped and held
ceremonies in the area during their epic journeys across Pintupi country which covers
much of the Gibson Desert in Central and Western Australia.
The linear journey lines capture the Tingari ancestors’ trails and also double as broad
flat plains that surround Marnpis’ two predominant sandhills which form the middle of
each rectangular design. The lines are also a reference to ceremonial sand paintings
and symbolic body paint designs.
